Squash glasses and goggles
Eye protection for squash players
Squash glasses and goggles ensure that your eyes are fully protected whilst in court. It is very important to wear eye protection when playing squash; a squash ball is just the right size to fit into the eye socket and has the potential to cause serious damage to the eye.
In most sports, the ball is larger than the eye socket and is prevented from reaching the eye by the brow bone and cheek bone. Being smaller than most other balls, a squash ball can fit between these bones and can cause some devastating damage, especially as it is usually travelling at some speed.
The key message is you should always wear protective sports glasses when playing squash.
Prescription glasses for squash
Due to the high levels of protection required of the game, squash players who wear glasses can choose to wear prescription sports glasses or goggles, providing both vision correction and protection from the ball.
We can provide protective glasses and goggles for spectacle wearers with a prescription of up to +13 / -18 and an opposite cyl (astigmatism) to 4.50.
We provide prescription squash glasses and goggles for adults and children from leading sports eyewear brands Bolle, Inland and NANO.
Key features of squash glasses
As specialists in prescription sports eyewear, we can help you to identify your requirements and choose the right eye protection and vision correction.
Here are some unique features of squash glasses and goggles:
Polycarbonate or plexiglass lenses
Impact resistant lenses are virtually indestructible and are able to sustain the impact of a squash ball.
Sports temples
A specially designed temple (the bit that goes behind your ear) provides extra grip, helping to hold your frames in place.
Sports strap
An elasticated strap (or band) that fits snugly around your head, preventing your frames from slipping and securing the frame in front of your eyes.
Interchangeable temple and strap
Some models, such as the Bolle Baller, offer an interchangeable temple and strap, providing two glasses in one.
Squash glasses for children
England Squash advises that eye protection in junior squash eye protection is mandatory, therefore choosing sports eyewear specifically designed for children is very important.
We provide prescription children’s sports eyewear suitable for all types of sport, including squash, from the leading brand NANO Eyewear.
- Changeable temples – for school and play
- Unbreakable lenses and frames
- Patented Siliflex™ silicon material
NANO Eyewear frames are suitable for toddlers, preschoolers and school age children, helping to ensure your mini squash players can join in with their favourite sport.
