GOLD Eye Examinations
Our GOLD eye examination is our most comprehensive and includes use of all the latest high tech instruments for checking the health of your eyes. We recommend this examination to anyone who has any concerns or a family history of eye disease such as macula degeneration or glaucoma.
Our Optomap is an extremely useful tool for inspecting and monitoring the health of the retina and macula, by showing the Optometrist much more of the image at once compared to the traditional Slit Lamp examination.
The GOLD Eye Examination also includes a 3D scan of the layers of the eye called an OCT, or Optical Coherence Tomographer. Using this equipment, Eye conditions such as glaucoma, AMD (age-related macular degeneration) and diabetic retinopathy can be detected early and referred for treatment.
If we could, we would provide this complete set of tests for all our patients but it is not NHS funded and has to be seen as private healthcare. The Gold Eye Examination is £100 but less for those entitled to an NHS eye examination. To make this as accessible as possible you can now join our Vision Care Plan.
